1st WORKSHOP on City of Belgrade Development Strategy (CBDS)

Before commencing the work on the SWOT analysis as one the first components of the future comprehensive development strategy for Belgrade, PALGO Center facilitated the first meeting on the project methodology with the members of the City Commission for Strategic Plan Preparation, selected stakeholders and foreign consultants.

The Workshop held on February 23, 2007 in SCTM premises in Belgrade was the first occasion, out of three events scheduled, to meet with foreign consultants. This Workshop was attended by: Ms. Athena Yiannakou from Thessaloniki, Mr. Bernhard Müller from Dresden and Mr. Friedrich Schindegger from Vienna.

In the morning session PALGO Center’s team of experts explained the context of the previous work on the Report on the status of the City of Belgrade (Prof. Vlastimir Matejić) and presented the main characteristics of the City of Belgrade: 1. Physical and environmental development (Žaklina Gligorijević), 2. Economic development (Darko Savić), 3. Social development (Ksenija Petovar), 4. Development of infrastructure systems (Zoran Žegarac), 5. Traffic and Transportation development (Svetlana Vukanović), 6. Institutional development – governance (Borislav Stojkov).

The key elements for the CBDS methodology were presented by Project Coordinator, Prof. Borislav Stojkov in the morning session (download presentation here), and then commented by Workshop participants in the afternoon session. The afternoon was dedicated to regional experiences and dialog with consultants and experts present.
